Burn buildings are constructed to withstand the stress created by repeated live burns for training purposes, and they require a great deal of ongoing maintenance and inspection to ensure safety. Over time, the stress from repeated burns causes the potential for compromising the temperature monitoring systems that are used in the buildings.  For example, the internal wiring can develop shorts, conduits may leak, thermocouple sensors will eventually fail, and the temperature recording equipment becomes outdated and unreliable.
