Electronic Development Labs, Inc. also known as EDL, was started in New York City, N.Y. back in 1943. It all started with Nathan Polsky who at age 26 was trying to find extra work at the shipyard when he noticed that there was a need for temperature test equipment, therefore starting the EDL business.
In 1990 EDL relocated its business to Danville, VA to produce temperature equipment that is commonly used in many diverse industrial and military applications. Industries using their temperature products range from food, plastic, or rubber, to automotive, shoe, and metal casting to name a few. EDL sells worldwide to distributors, manufacturers, and individuals. EDL provides quality products and service - the most reliable precision temperature measuring sensors, equipment, accessories, and calibrators; customized to customer specifications as needed. EDL offers an extensive line of calibrators, thermocouples, RTDs, thermistors, wire, high temperature bore thru compression fittings, bimetals, lab thermometers, recorders, infrared, high temperature insulations, over 10,000 temperature sensors, and a full range of precision handheld pyrometers. EDL also offers a complete calibration service for sensors, instruments and thermometers.
Everything EDL sells is designed, produced, and manufactured in house. Their standard product line consists of over 100 instrument models and over 10,000+ different sensor styles. EDL has a certified Metrology Laboratory, which provides a firm scientific foundation and is traceable to the International Temperature Scale (ITS-90) disseminated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Their lab is capable of calibrating temperature measurement devices from -196°C to 1500°C. Calibration instrumentation provides an easy way to decrease defects related to temperature measurement errors during the manufacture of most products.
EDL remains a privately held company since its founding by Mr. Nathan Polsky and his wife Mrs. Mary Polsky . After 65 years, she is still active in the daily operation of EDL. The company's president is her son Mr. Donald Polsky. EDL's unique combination of products and services make them a full range supplier of temperature measurement and control products. EDL brings a unique blend of products and services that are marketed worldwide from right here in Pittsylvania County.
Accreditation
EDL is working towards compliance to ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025, and have made formal application to A-Class in pursuit of the ISO 17025 Accreditation. EDL was recently audited for CFR21 for a medical device that we specialize in manufacturing. EDL has also been audited for and are compliant to CFR 820 (FDA).
EDL is also currently taking the steps to complete the necessary Conformity Assessment Procedures to gain CE Marking approval on products for the European Market.
